Understanding the March & March movement and its origins
March & March emerged as a grassroots citizen movement addressing growing concerns about undocumented immigration in South Africa. What began as conversations among communities affected by issues related to illegal immigration, employment competition, and access to public services, evolved into an organized advocacy movement.
The movement mobilized people through peaceful demonstrations and rallies, primarily in KwaZulu-Natal and beyond, bringing visibility to citizens' concerns that were often overlooked in policy discussions. The name "March & March" itself reflects the commitment to continuous, organized action for reform.
The movement has attracted support from civic groups and organizations who recognize the need for stronger border control and stricter enforcement of immigration laws, while also generating important conversations about how to balance national sovereignty with humanitarian concerns.

Founder & National Leader
Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma is a South African radio personality and civic activist based in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. She previously worked as a radio presenter on Vuma FM, where her shows reached thousands of listeners across the region.
Recognizing the depth of public concern about immigration policies and their impact on citizen employment, education, healthcare, and safety, Jacinta founded the March & March movement to amplify these voices. Under her leadership, the movement has organized major demonstrations and campaigns calling for:
Jacinta's activism brought the movement into national prominence, particularly through high-profile protests and demonstrations. In early 2026, a public violence charge was opened in connection with protests outside a primary school in Durban. Demonstrating her commitment to transparency and the legal process, Jacinta voluntarily handed herself over to police to address the charges, showing her dedication to her principles even in difficult circumstances.
Despite controversy, Jacinta continues to lead efforts to bring attention to what she and many citizens view as critical policy issues. Her vision is for a South Africa where citizen concerns are heard in policy-making, where immigration laws are fairly and firmly enforced, and where every citizen has genuine opportunity.
